Simulation Project Title Response of a network of Thalamocortical relay neurons to oscillatory input.

Description I would like to investigate the response of a network of thalamocortical relay neurons to oscillatory input. It has been observed that a single thalamocortical relay neuron possess filtering properties. I would like to study how these filtering properties change for a network of Thalamocortical relay neurons when different topologies and connectivity strengths are used to create the network.
Why complementary I would like to create network models to study the Basal Ganglia.It is a challenging task to expand a multi-compartmental single neuron model into a network model due to large parameter space and computational limitations.From this project I would like to learn how to create network models which still capture the main characteristics of the single neuron making up the network model and reflect experimentally observed behaviour of the modelled nucleus without exceeding computational limitations.
