Simulation Project Title A neural model of cognitive control.
Type of model Abstract neural network model
Description Cognitive control is the ability to select action taking into account external stimuli and also internal goals or states. I am working on a functional model of cognitive control based on an algorithm proposed in (Yu, Dayan 2005, Neuron), modeling the hierarchical functional organisation of cognitive control in lateral prefrontal cortex as described in (Koechlin et al 2003, Science). The aim of the project would be to work on neural networks to propose a neural implementation of this model.
Why complementary My research interest is to propose a functional mathematical model describing cognitive control in prefrontal cortex. Consequently, my focuses have been of two types : mathematical tools such as reinforcement learning, bayesian theory and information theory ; and psychological and neuroimaging data. This project is in line with my research since it is based on the model I am working on. However, it is complementary because I will work on a neural implementation of this model.
