Simulation Project Title MT-ACC network.
Type of model Compartmental model based network model
Description I will try to use multi-compartment model to simulate MT to ACC network in which different inputs are targeted to different location of apical dendrite of ACC neuron. Different receptor compositions will be assigned to different inputs. Two polysynaptic wiring will be simulated: (1) the thalamus inputs target to ACC interneuron and the interneuron target to pyramidal neurons. (2) The reticular thalamic interneuron is reciprocal connected with thalamocortical neurons.
Why complementary The input-specific plasticity in ACC may result from many factors, such as receptor composition and dendrite locations of synapse. The computational model of the network of different inputs on ACC can elucidate the importance of each factor. With electrophysiology and morphology data, we can propose which factor is important to the plasticity. It is hard to manipulate some factors in acute slice preparation, but it is easier to do so in a simulation model.
