Instructions
Curriculum Vitae
All applicants are requested to submit a detailed CV, in which prior scientific experience is explicited.
It is important for us to maintain a balance between different fields (biologists, physicists, engineers, etc), as well as a mixture of experimentalists and theoreticians.
So please fill in the information accurately about your background and present formation.
It is also important to explain well what benefits you expect to get from the course if you are selected.Project
One of the particularities of this course is that all accepted participants will work on a research project during the 4 weeks, under the help and guidance of tutors and faculty members.
The research project must typically *not* be a plain continuation of the PhD or postdoc research subject of the candidate.
Applicants must suggest a project, and in formulating it they should consider how it would provide substantial scientific benefits, which would be difficult to obtain without the course.
For example, experimentalists may be interested in modeling their data, mathematicians in moving towards more biophysical approaches, cellular-level modelists in moving towards more systems approaches, etc.
The project idea will be assessed based on scientific quality and it is therefore important to fill this item accurately to allow evaluation by people who are not necessarily of the same field; so please do not submit too technical descriptions. How to fill the forms
Submission is made electronically - please be succinct while filling out these forms.
Large text boxes have maximum size of 500 characters, small ones 80 characters.
The system will complain if you exceed the maximum number of characters.
As your application will be reviewed electronically, be careful with special characters which may not display correctly.
After submitting this form you will receive a copy by e-mail.
You can come back and edit or update this information until the application deadline of May 07th.
Do not use "&" sign in text fields, please!Letters of recommendation
Your application will not be complete until we receive two letters of recommendation.
These should be written by your supervisor(s), professors or other qualified people.
You supply the names and e-mail addresses of the two persons you have selected and after submission of this form we will send them e-mails with instructions on how to send us the letters electronically. The person you've supplied to write a letter of reference can decline this request. In this case, a mail will be send to the requester to inform. When this happens, you can supply a new name and email-adress.
The applicant can always check the arrival of letters on his application-form. If a reference has supplied a letter, there will be written "Letter Received".
Selection process
Due to the high demand we can accept only 20-25% of the applications.
Your application together with the letters of recommendation will be reviewed and scored by three faculty members.
Based on the those scores and taking into accounts a necessary balance of geographical, gender and educational background, a final ranking will be made by the course directors. You will receive notification of the result by May 31rd
