Simulation Project Title Modeling LFP - spikes relationship under visual stimulation.
Type of model Don't know yet
Description I'm interested in modeling the relationship between LFPs and spikes in the primary visual cortex of anaesthesized Macaque in response to a "natural" movie stimulus.Questions to be considered include:Can the processing of some stimulus feature (flow fields, contrast, luminance) be attributed to a particular neural signal (spike or LFP)? How do LFPs complement spikes in encoding stimulus features?
Why complementary In my current project we try to estimate (model free) the mutual information between different frequency components of LFP and stimulus without taking into account which features of the stimulus are creating the LFP response but rather looking at the variability of this LFP response when the stimulus is repeated. A complementary task would be to establish a link(model) between LFPs and spikes in terms of information sharing/transferring with respect to the stimulus.
