Simulation Project Title Modeling the stimulus-induced synaptic plasticity in cortical neuronal networks.
Type of model Compartmental model based network model
Description The main goal of the project is to develop a realistic computational model able to describe the effects that particular patterns of electrical stimulations have on the synaptic pathways of a cortical neuronal networks. In particular, effects of short/long-term synaptic potentiation will be investigated.
Why complementary This proposed project is actually in between my two main fields reseach: in fact, up to now I focused my attention on two aspects: 1) modeling neuronal networks taking into account the effects that dendritic arborization, degree of connectivity, number of neurons have over the global electrical activity 2)Experiments of tetanic stimulation on cortical neurons coupled to Micro-Electrode Arrays (MEAs), in order to produce short and/or long-term effects in the synaptic efficay.
