Simulation Project Title Ionic current model of periglomerular cells in the mammalian olfactory bulb.
Type of model One-compartmental model single cell
Description Anatomical evidences suggests that Periglomerular cells participate in inter and intraglomerular signal processing. Detailed reconstructions for multi compartmental modeling have not been made, although there have been measurements of the ionic currents in frogs and rats. With the available experimental data we will construct models for the ionic currents present in cells model based on HH equations to build a single compartmental model of periglomerular cell.
Why complementary Gap junctions are present in coupling between several sensory neurons like mitral cells (olfactory bulb) and rod photoreceptors (retina). Actually we study the effect of gap junctions on the dynamical range in retina. With a more realistic model of olfactory bulb, including periglomerular cells, we can study the effect o gap junctions on the dynamical range and synchronization in other sensory system to verify if the mechanisms of signal processing are correlated.
