          EMERGENCE AND DEVELOPMENT OF EMBODIED COGNITION - EDEC 2001

                Workshop in Beijing, China, 27 August 2001

The objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers from
cognitive
science, psychology, robotics, artificial intelligence, philosophy, and
related
fields to discuss the role of developmental and embodied views of
cognition,
and in particular, their mutual relationships. The ultimate goal of this
approach is to understand the emergence of high-level cognition in
organisms
bases on their interactions with their environment over extended periods
of
time.

The workshop will be held on August 27th 2001, in the context of the
International Conference on Cognitive Science 2001
(http://www.iccs2001.com).

The workshop will consist of invited talks, followed by a poster session
with
contributed papers.
