As a joint project of the departments of anatomy, physiology, and the
Vogt brain research institute at Düsseldorf University we investigate
structure-function relationships at the microcircuitry level in slices
of rat somatosensory cortex (e.g. J. Neurosci. 2001, 21: 3580-3592).
We are seeking a Ph.D. student with some knowledge of electrophysiology
to perform further whole cell patch-clamp recordings during flash
release of caged transmitters. The electrophysiological work is embedded
in ongoing projects including 3D-reconstruction, immunohistochemistry,
databasing and computer modeling of the microcircuitry.
