Apologies for multiple postings:
Postdoctoral Position in Computational Neuroscience
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in computational
neuroscience of neuromodulators, specifically the midbrain dopamine
system and its relation to learning. The position will be part of a
2-year NIH/NIDA-funded project to investigate the roles of dopamine in
normal learning and in addiction. The project will be carried out
through the design of computer models of anatomically and
physiologically realistic neuronal networks. A major component of the
project involves the integration of such models into behaving autonomous
robots. The goal is to model learning and addiction across multiple
levels of organization, from cells to circuits and behavior.
The project will be carried out at the Computational Cognitive
Neuroscience Laboratory at the Department of Psychology, Indiana
University, Bloomington (see http://php.indiana.edu/~osporns/lab.htm.
The lab has an active program of research in the following areas:
computational models of neuromodulation, embodied cognition,
biorobotics, models of visual cortex, connectivity analyses, complexity
theory.
The salary for this position will comply with NIH regulations. The
project start date is September 1, 2002. Candidates should have a PhD
in neuroscience, cognitive science or equivalent PhD training and a
strong interest in computational and/or cognitive neuroscience.
Applications from candidates with a dual (experimental/computational)
background are strongly encouraged.
Email applications (including CV and a short statement of research
interests) to:
Olaf Sporns (osporns@indiana.edu).
