THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTATIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND NATURAL
COMPUTATION
(CINC 2003)
http://axon.cs.byu.edu/CINC/
Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center
Cary, North Carolina, USA
September 26-30 2003
THEME AND SCOPE
The fields of computational intelligence and natural computing seek to apply
approaches inspired by natural processes for the solution of problems that are
resistant to traditional methods. Both of these fields have become broad, with
contributions from researchers in mathematics, physics, computer science,
linguistics, neuroscience, biology, psychology, cognitive science and various
engineering disciplines. When disparate disciplines pursue similar research
agendas, it is often the case that too little cross fertilization of ideas
occur.
Thus, the International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Natural
Computation, 2003 (CINC 2003) seeks to foster the interdisciplinary exchange
of ideas leading to significant advances in computational intelligence. In
conjunction with the Joint Conference on Information Sciences, 2003 (JCIS
2003), the conference provides a truly unique forum for presentation and
collaboration across disciplines. The organizers seek high-quality original
papers that contribute to this goal. All topics relating to computational
intelligence and natural computation are welcome and new, unusual and hybrid
approaches are particularly encouraged. Both theoretical (new algorithms,
analyses, etc.) and applied (implementations, applications, etc.) papers are
solicited. Areas from which papers are sought include but are not limited to:
Ant Colony Optimization
Artificial Immune Systems
Artificial Life
Associative Memory
Biological Computing
Bioinformatics
Cognitive Science
Computational Intelligence
Connectionism
Data Mining
DNA Computing
Evolutionary Computation
Feature Extraction
Intelligent Control
Intelligent Agents
Knowledge Discovery
Learning and Memory
Machine Learning
Neurocognition
Neurodynamics
Neurofuzzy Systems
Neural Networks
Particle Swarm Optimization
Pattern Recognition
Probabilistic Reasoning
Reinforcement Learning
Support Vector Machines
Swarm Intelligence
CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
All accepted papers will be included in a high-quality, bound conference
proceedings published by the Association for Intelligent Machinery.
INFORMATION SCIENCES JOURNAL
Authors are encouraged to submit extended versions of their papers to the
journal Information Sciences (Elsevier), subject to further review. In
addition, it is anticipated that one or more special issues of Information
Sciences, targeted specifically for topics covered by this conference, will be
published to include extended versions of the best papers appearing in
CINC’03.
IMPORTANT DATES
Invited Sessions Proposal Deadline: December 16, 2002
Regular Paper Submission Deadline: March 14, 2003
Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: May 14, 2003
Invited Paper Submission Deadline: June 16, 2003
Final Camera-ready Manuscript Due: June 16, 2003
Registration Deadline for Authors: July 1, 2003
PAPER SUBMISSION
Papers will be accepted based on peer review and should contain original, high
quality work. Claims and results should be substantive enough to be further
developed as journal quality work. All papers must be written in English.
Papers shall not exceed 4 pages of 10-point font, double-column, single-spaced
text, with figures and tables included. For the Sixth International Conference
on Computational Intelligence and Natural Computation, send an electronic
version (postscript or pdf format) of your submission to Dan Ventura
(ventura@cs.byu.edu) or Sanjoy Das (sdas@ksu.edu).
