                               ADVANCED REGISTRATION DEADLINE
                                                   OCTOBER 1
                                                        FOR

                                                    GUM*02
                                              November 8,9,10
                                            San Antonio, Texas

Advanced registration for GUM*02 will end on October 1 at midnight.
After that date registration fees will increase.

Meeting information and registration are available at:

http://genesis-users-meeting.org/

The GUM meeting is focused on research and education using
anatomically and physiologically realistic biological models.
Current practitioners as well as those interested in the construction
and use of realistic modeling techniques are encouraged to attend.

INTRODUCTORY TUTORIAL

We are pleased to announce that the introductory tutorial on
realistic modeling will
be conducted by Dr. Michael Hines, the creator of the modeling system
NEURON, and Dr. David Beeman, manager of the GENESIS users group.
Both presenters have extensive teaching experience in the
Computational Neuroscience at the Marine Biological Laboratory as well
as the European Course in Computational Neuroscience. Other tutorials
will be offered by leaders in the field in subjects from subcellular
to network modeling, and parameter searching techniques to the use of
parallel computers.

ADVANCED TUTORIALS

Advanced tutorials will also be presented on several
topics relevant to realistic modeling. See the web site for more information.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

All attendees are encouraged to present scientific and technical results,
and all submissions will be accepted. Appropriate presentations
include scientific results from realistic modeling efforts, presentations on
technical aspects of simulator use and development, or presentations describing
biological systems felt to be ripe for simulation and modeling. Unique to this
meeting, we do not necessarily expect completed studies; works in
progress are also welcomed. In this way students, especially, can
benefit from the expertise of other attendees.

COMMUNITY BUILDING

In addition to the educational and scientific aspects of meeting,
opportunities will also be provided for more relaxed interactions
between participants. San Antonio Texas is famous for its River Walk
(http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/index.asp).

MEETING COSTS

Every effort has been made to keep costs to a minimum to encourage attendance
by students. Room rates in the conference hotel have been established at $69
a night, unlimited occupancy.
