Dear Sir/Madam,

CISM (International Centre for Mechanical Science) is a non-profit
institution which, through the work of an international Scientific
Council, organizes advanced schools addressed to researchers. The
lecturers are all well known specialists at an international level.

A course on " Walking: Biological and Technological Aspects",
coordinated by professors F. Pfeiffer and T. Zielinska ,will be given
on September 8-12, 2003. The following topics will be treated:
principles of
sensor-based control for multilegged walking machines, control of
walking in invertebrates - morphology, neurophysiology, ethology,
simulation; structure, function and evolution of the motion organs of
vertebrates; technological aspects of walking; control of locomotion
