Postdoc position in stochastic kinetic pathway modeling

From: Erik De Schutter (erik@bbf.uia.ac.be)
Date: Mon Dec 22 2003 - 18:41:15 CET

The Theoretical Neurobiology group at the University of Antwerp
(Belgium) has a postdoc position funded by the Human Frontier Science
program to study the effect of concentration gradients on signaling
pathways responsible for the induction of synaptic plasticity.
The selected candidate will collaborate with computer scientists to
develop flexible methods for large-scale modeling of stochastic
reaction-diffusion modeling. These will be used to extend an existing
deterministic model of the signaling pathways involved in the induction
of cerebellar long-term depression with experimental measurements of
calcium and IP3 gradients in Purkinje cells.
Preference is given to candidates with a strong mathematical background
though others with a suitable training in computational methods can
also apply.
Competitive salary, position is available for 3 years starting
immediately.
Applications with CV and publications in pdf format attached and also
names and address info of 2-3 references should be e-mailed Prof. E.
De Schutter (erik@bbf.uia.ac.be).
