Post-Doc Position in EU-Integrated-Project :

“JAST- Joint Action Science and Technology”

===========================================================

Mathematical Modelling of Cognitive Systems

Project Goals

A postdoctoral research position is available at the Department of Mathematics
for Science and Technology, University of Minho-PT, in the field of Cognitive
Modelling for applications in Autonomous Robots. The research will take place
within the framework of the interdisciplinary project “JAST: Joint-Action
Science and Technology” funded by the European Commission
(http://www.nici.kun.nl/). The project aims to build jointly-acting autonomous
robots based on the processing principles underlying human cognitive behaviour.
The modelling and the control architecture for the robots will be based on the
theoretical framework of non-linear dynamical systems.

Requirements

Applicants should be able to build upon a solid education in mathematics proven
by a PhD degree in a relevant area in order to develop and analyze formal
models that lead to new insights about cognitive functions. Ideally, the
candidate should be familiar with dynamical systems theory and/or learning in
network models. A close interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in the
laboratory for Autonomous Robotics and Dynamical Systems at the Department for
Industrial Electronics is required.

The working language is English.

Conditions of employment

The position is available immediately for maximally 4 years, renewable on a
yearly basis given mutual interest. The successful candidate will receive a
competitive salary in accordance with the university regulations for a senior
researcher. The University of Minho aims at increasing the number of female
scientists in fields where underrepresented. Therefore, women are particularly
encouraged to apply.
