The Department for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Berlin
University of Technology solicits applications for
1 Postdoctoral Position
1 Graduate Student Position
(starting date March 1st 2005) within the recently established Bernstein
Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin (http://www.cns-berlin.org/).
The prospective postdoc is expected to work on computational models of
adaptation and of contextual effects in the mammalian visual system as
well as on theories about their computational role in visual processing.
The prospective graduate student is expected to join a collaboration
with the Berlin Neuroimaging Center at the Charite. He/she is expected to
work on the analysis of fMRI and EEG signals with focus on biophysical
models of connectivity and the integration of fibre tracking data.
Both positions are initially for two years, but may be extended up to
the length of the first funding period (Aug. 2009). Salary is according
to the German BAT IIa level. For more information see

The Bernstein Center for Computational Neurscience Berlin
(http://www.cns-berlin.org/) was established in September 2004 by the
German Ministry for Education and Science to promote interdisciplinary
research and education in Computational Neuroscience through
collaborative research and teaching activities between theorists,
experimentalists and medical doctors. The Center currently consists of
twenty research groups from six universities and research institutions
within Berlin whose activities range from investigations of single
synapses and networks to human neuroscience, from electrophysiology and
imaging to psychophysics, from mathematical theory and computational
modelling to in-vivo experiments and clinical studies. The Center
provides an intellectual environment for considering problems that
transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries, combining modern
biomedical, physical, and computational sciences, and training
opportunities for young researchers with mentors in different
disciplines.
