APPLIED BIONICS AND BIOMECHANICS

Woodhead Publishing Limited is delighted to announce the relaunch of the international journal Applied Bionics and Biomechanics after taking over the copyright from Open Mind Journals. The journal is published on a quarterly basis (four issues per volume) and is available free online to current subscribers via Extenza e-Publishing Services (www.extenza-eps.com), a division of Atypon Systems Inc. Please find attached a pdf of the current leaflet.

Applied Bionics and Biomechanics is an international, peer-reviewed journal of advanced technological developments based on the science of biological systems. Its coverage extends across all areas defined under the general bionics definition, ie the "Application of biological principles and living organisms structure and functions, to the study and design of engineering systems, especially electronic systems." While artificial body parts and related devices - both implantable and extracorporeal - is a strong focus, other applications of synthetic bionic systems may also fall within the scope of the journal, particularly those that are medically oriented. Also, issues of public policy relating to developments in bionics, are within the journal's scope, as well as basic research underlying this emerging science, and discussion of potential practical implications for advancing bionics technologies.

Submission of Papers

Applied Bionics and Biomechanics contains peer-reviewed papers including original research reports (full papers and short communications), state-of-the-art reviews, opinion pieces and perspective commentary via guest editorials and invited articles. Applied Bionics and Biomechanics is targeted to readers with an interest in applied aspects of bionics science and technology. Thus, intended readership includes researchers and practitioners in the fields of biomechanics, bioengineering and synthetic biological systems, biomedical engineering, biomimetics, cybernetics, robotics, developers, manufacturers and distributors of applied bionic technology products, and public policy planners and administrators in the areas of technology and health.

Authors are invited to submit papers of 3000-8000 words in length. All papers must be submitted in English, written in a concise and simple manner. Authors are encouraged to submit their papers directly online, using Aries Editorial Manager, at the following URL: http://abbi.edmgr.com. Online submission improves the peer-review process and allowing authors and referees to track the progress of papers and reducing publication times. Details on how to use the online submission system can be found by clicking on 'Tutorial for Authors' at the above URL address.
