The Salk Institute for Biological Studies has recently formed a
Center for Theoretical Neurobiology, with funding provided by
the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The long-range goal of this
Center is to develop theoretical foundations for modern
neurobiology. To meet this goal we are seeking applications for
junior faculty positions. Candidates should possess formal training in
theory and expertise in physical sciences, mathematics,
engineering, or computation, and they should be interested in
applying quantitative skills to a wide range of contemporary
problems in neurobiology. It is expected that Center
theoreticians will develop close ties with existing experimental
neurobiology laboratories at the Salk Institute, and will take a
prominent role in the training of graduate students and postdoctoral
fellows in this area. Women and minority candidates are particularly
