The Neurosciences Institute (NSI) is an independent, not-for-profit
organization at the forefront of research on the brain. The NSI, located on
the campus of The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, is also the home
of the Neurosciences Research Program and serves as an international meeting
place for neuroscientists; Fellows have opportunities to interact with
visitors from many institutions worldwide.

Applications are invited for positions as Fellow in Theoretical Neurobiology.
Since 1987, the NSI has had a research program dedicated to developing
biologically based, experimentally testable theoretical models of neural
systems. Current projects include large-scale simulations of neuronal
networks, the design of behaving automata, and detailed formulations of
biologically based models of perceptual systems. Advanced supercomputer
facilities are available. Fellows will have daily opportunities to interact
with Fellows in Experimental Neurobiology.

Applicants should be at the postdoctoral or assistant professor level with
strong backgrounds in experimental or theoretical neuroscience or related
fields. Experience in computer modeling is especially welcome.
Positions are now available.

Fellows will receive stipends appropriate to their qualifications and
experience. Candidates should send a short statement of research interests,
a curriculum vitae, and the names of three references to: Dr. W. Einar Gall,
Research Director, The Neurosciences Institute, 10640 John Jay Hopkins Drive,
San Diego, California 92121.
