I am contacting you in the hope that you might be able to help me in a search
I am conducting for a person to head up a new software research lab that is
being established in Palo Alto, California. The lab is intended to do truly
ground-breaking work in the fields of intelligent systems, agents and
decision-making frameworks that can form the basis of future mobility systems
that rethink the whole paradigm of individual and societal mobility.
We are looking for someone to recruit and lead a team of perhaps 10-15 truly
exceptional scientists who will act as the focal point for inhouse
exploration; collaborative work with academia, research institutions and
other companies; and sponsorship of industry partnerships that accomplish far
more than the team alone could do.
The emphasis is on developing systems that can potentially achieve human
levels of decision-making and performance within the targeted application
domains. Essentially the goal is to permit real-time control and
decision-making in massively information-intensive environments using
heuristics that use learning as the key to dealing with uncertainty, rather
than formal, complete and deterministic models. Among several areas of
interest that hold promise are computational and cognitive neurosciences,
neural network AI technologies and the whole range of exploration into
artificial life concepts.
I am hoping that you might be able to suggest one or more individuals that
you feel might either be qualified for such a role, or could perhaps help me
further with suggestions of their own. If you can help, I would really
appreciate hearing from you.
Thanking you in advance,
Jon Carter
