POSTOCDOCTORAL RESEARCH / PROGRAMMING POSITION AVAILABLE

The candidate will join a group of investigators including
neuroscientists, computer scientists and informatics experts in
developing a suite of database software tools for the study of
structure/function relationships in the nervous system. This is a joint
project between scientists at Berkeley, UCSD, the San Diego
Microscopy and Imaging Resource, and the San Diego
Supercomputing Center. The ideal candidate will be experienced in
multidimensional visualization techniques, multiplatform development
of graphical interfaces and parallel programming techniques. In
addition to primary responsibility for the algorithmic and software
development, the candidate will be resposible for a) management of the
Berkeley computer system and interfacing with the San Diego
Supercomputer center, b) source code documentation of all developed
software, c) development and implementation of all procedures
required for the distribution and subsequent support of the software
system, d) maintenance of a web site, e-mail reflector and ftp site for
software distribution, and e) working with staff at UCSD to integrate
commonly available morphological analysis and electrical simulation
programs with the database system. Candidate should be experienced
in C and C++ and familiar with Silicon Graphics platforms. Experience
in database development and neurobiology desirable.
Position available immediately. Project duration approximately 3 yrs.
Salary level negotiable, based on experience. Hours are flexible.
