Although the following is for non-computational types too,
there are mentors whose interests are largely computational.

Undergraduate summer research in Neuroscience at Ohio University.

A Summer of Neuroscience at Ohio University is the result of a NSF
Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site Award. The award is
sufficient to fund a stipend ($2,600), travel costs, and room and
board for ten undergraduate students and to allow some students
to present their results at national meetings. The ten week program
consists of a two-week short course in neuroscience, ten weeks of
hands-on laboratory research under the guidance of a faculty mentor,
a variety of structured activities at which the students can interact
with research scientists ranging from graduate students to professors,
and a final colloquium at which the students will orally present
their results.

Projects have been carefully chosen so that the students 1) investigate
questions of current scientific relevance, 2) are able to understand
the scientific and experimental issues involved, and 3) are likely to
make significant progress during the summer. Participation in this
program will introduce the students to the satisfactions of a research
career and materially enhance the student's understanding of the
scientific process. Students should review the Neurobiology Faculty
Research Interests Booklet (available at the web site below or by mail
upon request) and identify at least two faculty mentors with whom
they would like to work.

Complete information, including application forms that you can
print at your local printer, are available from:

There are five parts to the application: PERSONAL DATA FORM,
STATEMENT OF CAREER GOALS, STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
(be sure to identify at least two faculty mentors with whom you
would like to work), THREE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION, and
AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. Deadline for receipt of all application
materials is April 1; students will be informed of admission
by April 15, 1996. Send your completed application packet to:
