Dear colleague:

A brief explanation concerning the following email. Comp-neuro was
established by the organizers of the CNS meeting for the dissemination and
discussion of issues in computational neuroscience. As a moderated email
list, we have made every effort to assure that subscribers are not deluged
with unwanted and irrelevant information.

I have asked the moderator, Dave Beeman, to send you all the
following email message which is unrelated to computational neuroscience. I
am, of course, aware that this is a violation of our policies and, in some
sense your trust. I am also aware that some or perhaps many of you will
regard this posting as political, and therefore at best inappropriate and
at worst offensive. However, in extraordinary times, extraordinary
measures are necessary. It is my view, shared by many, that the United
States Government is currently flirting with a constitutional crisis of
substantial political, social and economic significance. Under these
circumstances I feel compelled to do all that is within my own capabilities
to try to resolve this crisis.
