TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN BIOLOGICAL PHYSICS
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY
VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

Applications and nominations are invited for a tenure-track,
assistant-professor position in biological physics. An exceptionally
qualified person at a more senior level will be considered. There
are no restrictions on the subfield of biological physics; the
successful candidate will be expected to establish a leading,
independent research group, and to be highly effective in teaching at
the undergraduate and graduate levels. Biophysical research within
the department and the W.M. Keck Free Electron Laser Center includes:
bioelectric and biomagnetic phenomena and non-linear dynamics;
investigations of biological systems with IR, visible, and UV lasers;
biomolecular dynamics; bioinformatics; and applications of tunable,
monochromatic x-rays to medical imaging and biological physics. The
existing biological physics program and the new activities of the
candidate will contribute to and benefit from a substantial
University-wide Initiative in Biomedical Science and Technology.

ROBERT T. LAGEMANN VISITING PROFESSORSHIP IN LIVING STATE PHYSICS
DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY
VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

Applications and nominations are invited for a one or two-year,
non-tenure-track, research/teaching appointment to the Robert T.
Lagemann Visiting Professorship in Living State Physics, starting with
the Fall semester, 1999. Candidates will be considered at any level.
Preference will be given to candidates with a proven research record in
CARDIAC OR CELLULAR BIOLOGICAL PHYSICS. Applicants should be qualified
to teach undergraduate or graduate courses in physics.

Applications for either position, including a resume and the names and
addresses of three references, should be sent to:
