New Free EEG Software
---------------------------------------------------------------

A new version of the Prolate1 3d EEG display and analysis software is
now ready for viewing and downloading. This version of the software
can directly read EGI Netstation 128 channel EEG data files. In
addition, there is a utility program which can convert Netstation data
files to text format. All software is available free for all
non-commercial users.

Prolate1 is an ongoing experimental software application for Power
Macintosh computers which can read and display time-varying EEG
electric field potential on the surface of a prolate spheroid.
Time-series EEG data from multiple sensors located at arbitrary
positions on a spheroid are read into the program and used to
interpolate values of the field at other, arbitrary, lattice points
contained on the spheroid. These interpolated values are then used to
color surface patches of the spheroid, and to create a dynamic color
animation of the field in 3d as it changes over time.

This software can be seen and downloaded from the following website:

This site also contains introductory online documentation for the
software, several images of real animated data, and a list of file
formats supported by the software.

The authors are also interested in receiving requests for additional
file formats for import into the Prolate1 software. For example,
Neuroscan CNT file format is now being considered. Please write to the
authors if you have an EEG data file format that you would like to use
with the Prolate1 software.

A subsequent version of the Prolate1 software which can perform
spectral analysis of datasets and 3d animation of resulting frequency
records is anticipated at the end of January 1999.

Serious inquiries to provide funding or collaboration for this research
are always welcome.

Please forward this notice to anyone who might be interested.
