present recent advances in research relevant to spinal cord injury and
traumatic brain injury;

discuss issues relevant to the treatment and care of individuals with
spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury;

foster communication between basic scientists, clinicians and biomedical

engineers working in the area of spinal cord injury and traumatic brain
injury; and

enhance community awareness of ongoing research on spinal cord and brain

injury and of recent advances in clinical treatments.

SUPPORT FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS AND POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLARS:
---------------------------------------------------------

The Whitaker Foundation has provided funds to support the travel,
lodging and registration for graduate students and post-doctoral
scholars. Applicants for this support must be involved in
neurophysiology, neurotrauma, or neurorehabilitation research that
includes a biomedical engineering component. Awardees will be required
to present a poster at the meeting. The application for support should
include a 200 word abstract and a 2-page biosketch that includes
short-term and long-term career goals and contact information.
