-------------------------------------------------------.

As you may know already, the PAPER SUBMISSION DEADLINE
of the ICONIP (International Conference on Neural Information
Processing) is approaching. The new deadline is JUNE 15th, 2000.

ICONIP is the annual conference sponsored by Asia-Pacific
Neural Network Assembly (APNNA) on the themes of artificial neural
networks and related topics such as cognitive science.

ICONIP conferences had attracted about 300 papers and more
than 400 attendants each year around the world. This year
we include cognitive science as one of the main
themes of the conference, and expect more papers and attendants.
Again we will have another exciting conference with excellent
presentation and in-depth discussion.

This year we have set up procedures
on our web page to submit papers electronically.
Detail paper submission format may be found at
http://www.iconip2000.com or
http://braintech.kaist.ac.kr/ICONIP2000.

On November 14, we will offer several tutorials given by
world-recognized researchers on several topics.
>From November 15 to 18 we will have plenary session, and several
oral and poster sessions. However, a half-day historic tour to the
old capitals of Paekje Dynasty (from BC to 7th century AD) will be
organized in the after of November 17th. In the evening of 16th
we will have a banquet (Korean food) with a traditional
Korean dancing and music perforamnce. Both the historic tour
and banquet will provide unique chances to understand Korean
culture, which has existed here more than 4300 years.

On November 18th a small workshop will also be organized
by Vision Socoeties of Japan and its Korean counter part.

On Novemver 20th and 21st the Korea-Japan Joint Workshop
on Neurobiology and Neuroinformatics will be held at Kyungju,
a old capital of Shilla Dynasty, another old dynasty in the
southeast part of Korean pennisula. This joint workshop will be
jointly organized by Japanese RIKEN BSI, Korean Brain Science
Research Center at KAIST, and Biomedical Brain Research Center
at Korean NIH. Although the speakers will be designated
by invitation only, the workshop will be open to public
for attendance.
