Dynamical Neuroscience VIII: Scales of Plasticity and Learning
A Satellite Symposium of the 30th Annual Meeting of the Society for
Neuroscience
New Orleans, Louisiana
Friday and Saturday, November 3-4, 2000
The dynamic processes involved in acquiring, storing and accessing new
information are now being mapped in animal and human studies using a
multitude of biochemical, electrophysiological and neuroimaging
techniques. Invited speakers will discuss the current state of knowledge
and present-day models about the dynamical aspects of learning and memory
formation, on scales from molecules to neurons to systems to organisms, and
milliseconds to years. The symposium will address questions
including: What hard evidence links molecular/cellular events (e.g., LTP)
to learning in the intact animal? How are millisecond events encoded into
permanent memory? What new concepts and tools are needed to understand the
biological dynamics of learning?
Invited speakers: Thomas Carew, Kelsey Martin, Allison Doupe, Eric
Knudsen, Michael Mauk, Andrew Barto, Laurie McMann, Scott Kelso,
Howard Eichenbaum, Michael Hasselmo, Ann Graybiel and Richard
Frakowiak. Keynote Speaker: Patricia Kuhl
Poster sessions will be held each day of the meeting. Program agenda may
