Postdoctoral Researcher, experimental neurobiology/ physics/
bioengineering: The Neural Dynamics Laboratory, Krasnow Institute for
Advanced Study at George Mason University seeks a researcher at the
Postdoctoral Level for a Whitaker sponsored bioinstrumentation project to
develop hardware and software for modulating neuronal network activity
through electric field application. The objective of this project is to
build a prototype seizure suppression device, as well as to lay the
groundwork for a range of neural prosthetics based on electric field
stimulation. The project contains elements from bioengineering,
neurophysiology, experimental physics, and control systems theory. The
project involves brain slice experiments and requires hardware and circuit
design and construction. Candidate should have a Ph.D. and experimental
research experience in a related field. Salary is $32k/yr + benefits. More
information about our research can be found at http: complex.gmu.edu/neural.
Consideration of applicants will continue through at least August 15.
