Postdoctoral Researcher in experimental neurobiology and physics. The Neural
Dynamics Laboratory, Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study at George Mason
University, seeks a researcher at the Postdoctoral Level for NIH sponsored
project to combine recent developments in electric field adaptive control of
neuronal networks (J. Neurosci. 21: 590-600, 2001) with a study of the
synchronization of nonlinear systems (Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 1689-1692, 2000).
The applicant will be involved with merging electric field control
electronics with whole-cell patch recording techniques to probe transitions
in neuronal networks. The project combines efforts from neurophysiology
(Schiff) with experimental (Gluckman) and theoretical physics (P. So and E.
Barreto). Candidate should have PhD in Biology, Physics, or Bioengineering,
with experience in intracellular patch recording and with instrumentation
design. Salary is $32,500 K/yr + benefits. More information about our
research can be found at http://www.krasnow.gmu.edu/neuraldyn. Consideration
of applicants will continue through at least May 30. Please send letter of
application, curriculum vitae, and 3 professional references to: Dr. Steven
Schiff, Krasnow Institute, MS 2A1, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA
22030-4444; or contact jBarreto@gmu.edu; (703) 993-4387. George Mason
University is an Affirmative Action / Equal opportunity Employer.
