Theory and Neuroinformatics in Research Related to Deep Brain
Stimulation 
15-16 March 2007 
Imperial College London

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is an increasingly used therapeutic
procedure which is used to treat a series of neurological and
psychiatric related disorders. DBS modulates brain activity via the
implanted depth electrodes by conducting electrical pulses. However, the
success of the procedure is not only dependent on the precision of
electrode implantation, but the parameters of the electric pulses also
need to be tuned for each patient. 
 
We are organising an international symposium where researchers from
different backgrounds (mathematics, computer science, neurobiology,
neurological medicine) will be able to meet in person, identify the
direction of future research, and discuss possible collaborative
projects in the DBS field.
