POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTATIONAL NEUROBIOLOGY
COLLEGE OF WILLIAM AND MARY
A post-doctoral position is available in the Computational Biology
Laboratory of the Department of Applied Science at the College of
William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
We are seeking a motivated and creative person interested in the
development and analysis of mathematical and computational models of
dynamic phenomena in cellular biophysics and neuroscience.
Mathematical and/or computational modeling skills are essential.
Prior experience in mathematical and/or computational biology is
preferred but not required.
Potential projects could include but are not limited to 1) Markov
chain models of the stochastic gating of clusters of IP3Rs and RyRs,
2) whole cell models of calcium handling that account for local
coupling of intracellular calcium channels, 3) probability density
models of calcium release unit activity during excitation-contraction
coupling in cardiac myocytes, and 4) Monte Carlo and population
density models addressing throughput properties of the visual
thalamus, for example, cortical modulation of sensory relay via the
dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus and perigeniculate nucleus.
Funding from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute is available for two
years. The salary will be in the range of 35-40K commensurate with
experience and expertise.
