Dear Colleagues,

I'd like to announce (1) A new paper on song learning in a spiking
neural network model of the
birdsong pathway, and (2) A companion (background) paper that presents
the theory for a
general, biologically plausible rule for gradient learning in recurrent
nonlinear networks:

gradient estimation by
dynamic perturbation of neural conductances. J Neurophysiol, 2007 (In
press).
