Postdoctoral position in computational experimental neuroscience
at Janelia Farm Research Campus, Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postdoctoral positions are available in my laboratory at the Janelia Farm
Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
(http://www.hhmi.org/janelia/). The work in the laboratory is devoted to the
sensory information processing in behaving animals, and aimed at deciphering
the olfactory code and revealing the underlying neuronal mechanisms in the
behaving animal (http://www.hhmi.org/research/fellows/rinberg.html).
The postdoctoral researchers will be engaged in both experimental and
computational study of multineuronal coding in awake behaving mice. These
include (but are not limited by) measurement and analysis of
electrophysiological signals from olfactory bulb of the mouse, in
combination with olfactory psychophysical experiments, as well as developing
new methods for multiunit recordings in behaving mice. While the initial
focus of the laboratory is in electrophysiological recordings and data
analysis, the future direction is developing optical methods for recording
of multineuronal activity, which will be pursued in collaboration with other
groups in Janelia Farm. The interaction with other labs will be strongly
encouraged.
Requirements include a Ph.D. in neuroscience or related area. Researchers
with PhDs in physics and/or mathematics who have strong motivation to switch
to neuroscience are also encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should submit a brief statement of research interests,
curriculum vitae, and arrange 2-3 reference letters. Applications are
preferably sent by email to rinbergd at janelia.hhmi.org
